The Blog-Spammers Strike Back

Posted in General at 2:01 pm by Ian

I just deleted two spams. No big deal, really. I delete them all the time.

But… these ones worried me. You see, I run MT Blacklist to stop spam, so even when I get a few spams, the urls in those spams are forever blocked, so I only have to deal with them once.

The spams today didn’t even have urls in them. At least, not real ones. What they had was something that looked like: link . Meaning they’re not going after Google PageRank anymore, but they’re (perhaps) specifically trying to hit people who use MT Blacklist.

Or maybe it’s just a moron with a spam script.

That is anoying… a lot of spam (of all sorts) seems to have moved out of the realm of logic into a pissing match between those who propogate it and those who fight it. Since they aren’t trying to sell things the only possible thing they can be going for is to just annoy people and to prove that yes they can break through various spam filters. Bastards.

Ok. this has nothing to do with this post at all, but it’s the closest blog to the top, where people might read the comments, and check this site out. Ian, my friend, it looks like there’s a stiff competitor out there for your Ipod, finally. Check it out here.

I agree. Why do these people force the issue. Why not just see to those who are i the amrket for reading the ad.

But you see, the spam DID have a sales purpose. The crafty spammer Evan knew you would post about the spam on the blog, thus giving him the opportunity to advertise his iPod replacement!
