Spam Control

Posted in General at 12:05 pm by Ian

To help control spam, I’ve installed Kitten’s Friendly Comments, a comment whitelist plugin for WordPress.

This requires that you give an email address when posting (it doesn’t have to be real, if you’re that paranoid; you just have to use the same one repeatedly), and the first comment you make may require approval from me. So don’t repost a bunch of times if it doesn’t show up immediately.

Oh! Oh! Put me on the white list!

  2. Dad said,

Well, then. I guess I better get on the list.

  3. Ian said,

Well… that’s odd. They still show up in the Recent Comments list even when they’ve not yet been approved.

  4. Dad said,

Apparently some people don’t need approval.

  5. Katie said,

Can I be on the cool person list too please? I think it’s safe to leave my e-mail here. *looks both ways suspiciously*

  6. Ian said,

Ok. Fixed that bug. Damn open source hippies with no work ethic ;). I don’t even know php or MySQL and I figured this one out.

  7. Ian said,

And then I turned it off again, because it doesn’t seem to work. Boo.

  8. Sarra said,

Mwahaha I’ve got your email now Katie!!! I can proceed with my plan of stalking you!!!

  9. Matt said,

Well, I may as well get on the list too.

  10. Katie said,

*gasp* Oh no! *runs to knight in shining armor* Save me please! That awful Sarra woman is after me!
