Serenity Now!

Posted in General at 4:00 pm by Ian

I just bought my tickets. I’m going with friends from work to the Arclight, the greatest movie theater ever, on Friday night.

  1. Matt said,

Is this finally a movie I should see? I guess I should have seen the Batman one when it was in the dollar theater here, but I didn’t bother.

  2. Kyle said,

Not having seen it yet… yes, this is a movie everyone needs to go see. I’m living in my fantasy world idea of this movie being such a success that it will bring Firefly back. So yes, everyone has to go see it. And take their friends to see it. And take their family to see it. And get their family’s friends to see it… and THEIR friends… I’ll stop now.

  3. Ian said,

Dude, stop drooling all over my blog. It’s not polite.

Holding my fanboy firmly in check, I’d say that it looks to be a very cool movie. If you are a fan of the Joss, it will probably be an incredibly awesome movie.

And I’ll give 3-1 odds against Firefly ever coming back as a regular TV series, regardless of how well the movie goes.

  4. Kyle said,

    I’ll take that bet.
    For… 1 dollar.
It’s the principle of the thing.

  5. Ian said,

Well, that’s a pretty wussy wager you’re offering there, but Ok.

Mail me a dollar. If it ever comes back as a regular TV series, I’ll mail you $4.

  6. Victor said,

The way I heard it, the movie is pretty much the second season crammed into two hours, out of the 3 or 4 seasons he was planning to do.

  7. Ian said,

I so win that bet. Pay up, dude.

  8. Kyle said,

Um, how do you know you’ve won the bet again? I don’t see no fat lady singing quite yet.

  9. Ian said,

The way I see it, the very nature of the bet is that I have by default won it until it comes back as a TV show. If you can think of another rational way to decide the outcome, I’m willing to reconsider.

Apart from that, he killed off two characters and the movie opened at #2. Meaning it’s not popular enough to be an amazing run-away hit, but it’s popular enough that Fox won’t let go of it. Joss has pledged not to work with Fox in the future. Read between the lines.

  10. Kyle said,

I still prefer to stay stupidly, naively hopeful that it might somehow manage to start up again, despite the loss of characters and evil-ness of Fox.

  11. Ian said,

Hey, you go ahead and do that naive thing if it makes you happy. Just so long as you send along my winnings, ’cause that makes me happy.

  12. Tania said,

i side with Ian ^_^…. kyle, sadly, i dont think serenity is goin to spark the show comin back or anything… too late to join the bet against ya? =Þ
