Songsmith’d

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:30 pm by Ian

So, Microsoft made this tool called Songsmith, a slightly higher-tech version of those synthesized rhythm buttons I used to play with on keyboards, that takes in a vocal track and then auto-generates an accompaniment.

It turns out that it’s not so useful for its intended purpose, but if you take just the lead singer track from classic songs, run it through Songsmith, and recombine it with the music video: Comedy Gold

If you’ve ever thought that Roxanne should be an uptempo Calypso number, that White Wedding should be a banjo duel, or that Enter Sandman should be… well, a lot like that cheesy old synthesizer music, you’re in luck.

Also, Eye of the Tiger, maudlin country style.
